Using ChatGPT for Material Development and Assessment
|
This presentation will focus on the potential uses of language models and AI for material development and assessment in an ESL setting. Specifically, we will explore the capabilities of ChatGPT, an advanced language model developed by OpenAI, and provide instructional suggestions to help instructors utilize it effectively. The session will discuss the three key factors that contribute to getting effective output from ChatGPT: setting, prompt, and task. I will also provide practical strategies for writing prompts that engage ChatGPT and generate desired outputs. By the end of the session, participants will have a better understanding of how to leverage ChatGPT to develop materials and assess student learning. They will also have the skills necessary to create effective prompts that will help them get the most out of this powerful tool, ultimately enabling them to improve their language teaching practices.

The Effect of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) Related to Attitudes of Turkish EFL Students |
It is unimaginable to conceptualize today’s world without the application of mobile technologies and it is expected that within the coming ten years, mobile technologies will continue to be more prevalent, individual, strong and social (Krull & Duart, 2017). As in numerous nations all through the world, for young individuals in Turkey, particularly the mobile phones have expanded into an instinctual, solid, stable part of lifestyle, life administration and maintenance of social connections within the system of diverse culture and way of life (Kaya & Argan, 2015). In this presentation, I would like to share the findings and pedagogical implications of my mixed method study which explored the attitudes of B1+ level Kadir Has University Prep Programme students towards Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) environments. |

Teacher Wellbeing: Experiences and Ideas |
Everyone wants to work at a place with a positive working culture, and so do teachers. The wellness of employees is strongly associated with a positive work environment, which has become extremely important through pandemics, lockdowns, distance education, natural disasters, social and political environment, as well as interpersonal relations and, of course, by ourselves. In this presentation, I will present a review of related literature and studies on teacher well-being and share my related experiences in drama and social fun activities. Specifically, my school and university visits to give seminars, online theatre performances, and casual intercultural meetings in recent years will be presented in detail. Then, a discussion about what we can do here in Khas SFL will be held, and finally, certain ideas will be offered to improve and boost teacher well-being at both institutional and individual levels.
