PD Workshop I

Abstract

Second language listening has been considered as one of the most challenging skills by learners, yet there is plenty of evidence that listening is undervalued in the language classroom. This workshop aims to enhance the efficiency of teaching listening skills and comprehension in our classes, which is one of our institutional priorities. The aims of this workshop are to present strategies, practical tools and sample tasks to build our learners’ confidence in listening, which will motivate them to acquire the target language, and to provide a deeper perspective for our instructors. In the second half of the workshop, participants will be asked to work on a specific listening text within their track groups and design listening activities/tasks considering the theoretical input.
